Type of leave
There are 9 types of leave available:
- Annual Leave
- Leave entitlement provided to employees that allows them to take time off from work while still receiving their salary
- Emergency Leave
- Leave taken on short notice to handle urgent or unexpected personal matters
- Medical Leave
- Leave granted to employees who are experiencing health-related issues
- Medical Certificate (MC) – sick leave supported by a medical certificate
- Hospitalised – leave taken when an employee is admitted to a hospital
- Unpaid Leave
- Leave taken where employees do not receive salary during their absence
- Replacement Leave
- Leave provided to employees as a replacement for working on weekends or public holidays
- Compassionate Leave
- Leave taken due to serious personal matters, such as:
- Death of a close relative or dependent
- Last minute and unavoidable childcare emergencies
- Maternity / Paternity Leave
- Maternity: Leave granted to mothers before and after childbirth
- Paternity: Leave granted to fathers to spend time with their newborn child and support childcare responsibilities
- Time Off
- Short period of leave taken for personal matters, rest or travel. Usually used for partial-day absences
- Time Slip
- A confirmation issued by a clinic or hospital indicating that the employee was given time to rest after receiving treatment
