- Annual Leave
- An allotted number of days that employee may use to be absent from work over the course of a year without losing pay
- Emergency Leave
- Leave taken on short notice to manage urgent personal matters
- Medical Leave
- Leave granted to employees experiencing physical or mental health issues
- Medical Certificate (MC) – sick leave supported by a medical certificate
- Hospitalised – leave taken when the employee is admitted to a hospital
- Unpaid Leave
- Time off where employees does not receive salary during their absence
- Replacement Leave
- Leave given in exchange for working on weekend or public holidays
- Compassionate Leave
- Leave taken due to serious personal matters, such as:
- Life threatening injury or illness of a relative or dependent
- The death of a close relative or dependent
- Last minute and unavoidable child care emergencies
- Maternity / Paternity Leave
- Maternity: Leave for mothers before and after childbirth
- Paternity: Leave for fathers to spend time with their newborn child and assist with care
- Time Off
- Short period of leave for personal matters, rest or travel. Usually used for partial-day absences
- Time Slip
- A confirmation issued by a clinic or hospital indicating that the employee was given time to rest after receiving treatment
